hi my engine over heats, i noticed that the thermostat housing was very hot and the little sandwich plate between the hose and the thermostat was cold not even warm just like the bottom hose. i changed thermostat for a 190 f like my parts guy told me went there... same thing, i tried a 180f didnt change anything, any ideas why it wont open or how to bleed the coolant on those diesel engines ?

Have you thought about checking your pump... Sounds like the water pump is dead.
