Hi Everyone.

I have to get some partial panels for my 88/89 amalgamation (not me). (I would like to order them today, if I can).

The problem is, that other than grill/front markers (and mirrors) on the cab,

I do not see a difference in the box portion, YET, the local supplier has 2 completely different part numbers for 88, and then again 89 (above the wheel wells on the box).

Can someone tell me (no guessing) IF, and or WHAT, the differences are ?

the 89 version is MUCH more money, (Double), if the 88 will work, it would save me over 150 bucks.

I don't like being rude, but don't post in the "URGENT HELP NEEDED" section if you don't feel like doing research on the parts you need to buy. Otherwise, call the supplier and ask them what the difference is. They have the parts sitting in front of them, they are the ones that can best see the difference, if any.

Wheel wells are larger by about 2 inches on the 89.

Thanks ADSM....

Monster chuck,,, re-read please... here, I'll do it for you..

"(I would like to order them today, if I can)"

I WAS doing research, AND posted here, ALSO, FYI.

Supplier only has pictures (parts are a 5 day lead), THAT was why I asked the question.

I'm NOT new at forums, was looking for help BEFORE the end of the day... Oh well, I have my answer.

Thanks again ADSM.

Well, I dare say I must apologize. I googled your question before my first reply and skimmed the results, and it seemed that your answer was easily found. After scrutinizing those results more, I found one answer that disagrees with adsm08's answer, so the information you sought was not so easily found. I'm sorry you took offence to my response, but I did try to be polite, and I would think that the supplier would have been the best place to get your answer. Best of luck with the project.

Monster Chuck...

LMAO !! so it turns out I do NOT have my answer, the parts are STILL not ordered.

You Win, Can a Moderator move this tread for me to "General Discussions" please.

I'm looking for a bit more info, M/C, can you provide me with the "search" criteria you used to get some results in google ??

I've tried many 88-89 ranger fenders/box/photos, and found the following:

http://fiberwerx.com/listing/88-92-ford-ranger-fenders/
http://www.lmctruck.com/features/fr/frsbp.htm
http://www.dimensionsinfo.com/truck-bed-dimensions-for-a-ford-ranger/

but nothing specific to the differences

Here's what I've decided to do.... I've got a bunch of side profile photos and in PSP5 I'm going to measure a known item in each of a confirmed set of 88 and 89 photos with the ruler tool in PSP5, using that ruler tool in each photo I'll measure the known item, and then the rear fender opening, this sbould provide the answers I seek.

Greg

PS, all of this started because the P/O amagimated the truck from both an 88 and an 89, and I have no way to know if the box is 88 or 89.......

I think I just punched in something like "body differences 1988 1989 Ranger" into google. I saw something about the fuel doors being positioned differently, I think. But if I may suggest, if it's really this hard to tell the difference between the 88 and 89 beds, why not just buy the cheaper one?
