Help... I am trying to wire an after market stereo in my Ranger. I bought a wiring harness but it only comes with the power side . The speaker side on the OEM stereo is small and has a lot of wires. I followed the premium wiring diagram and hooked the speaker wires up but get no sound. This is driving me crazy. Unless these wires go through another connection I am at a loss. I hooked an external speaker up and the new stereo plays.

No such colored wires in my harness. I have 16 wires coming out on the side where the speakers are hooked up. The diagram I followed is for the premium stereo. The wires that are color coded for the speakers do not have sound coming out. So there must be another way to hook the speakersup. I had the same problem with a 92 Explorer. Ended up running new wires. I hate to do this again.

Radio hookup

:yahoo: Found that I needed to hook up P Cont and the blue Amp wire and now I get sound. I guess there is an external amp under the dash somewhere.
