i was wondering if a cat from a 90 ranger 2.9L would bolt up on a 01 explorer sport 4.0L????

no, the flanges, y-pipe, converter style..the whole shebang really....is different.

if youve got a damaged or plugged cat, your best bet is an aftermarket universal (you'll have to have a muffler shop weld in on for you, shouldnt be more than $20 or so).

if your current cats are OK, then leave them be. there are no performance gains to be had by replacing a properly functioning cat.

yep, cats are worth money (that does sound weird).

even smashed/melter/damaged cats can be recycled for a pretty penny.
