choking off

Well the other day i started my truck up fine, and i was on ice and then caught causing my truck to choke off. My question is why did it start so hard after if choked off...this has happened a few times and only after choking it off. thanks
 
By "choke off" you mean stall out right? If so, then I'd say the reason it starts hard is probably because the fuel injectors were still firing just for a split second when the engine stalled, and when you started it back up, it was almost as if the engine was flooded because there was a little too much fuel in the cylinders. I could be totally wrong about that, but that's my best guess.
 
I tend to agree. When a stick shift starts to bog down it tries to compensate by adding more fuel.

You can see what I mean by sitting still and letting the clutch out until the engine just starts to bog down, then quickly press the clutch again. You will see and or hear the rpm's jump up for a second.

This is because the computer was compensating.
