My credo
Confused and Intolerant
Well, good news, the Ranger is mine =) still in dad's name:icon_twisted:, but I have free range now because I got the 88' from adsm.:yahoo:

I am wanting to paint the 88' a stock colorjob, and I mean a professional type paintjob too. My mom knows fine detailing, my dad has painted many cars, and I am rattle-can artist lol. We are getting a sandblasting setup and some spray fittings for the compressor.

I wanted some ideas on what job to use. There was the 2 tone like what adsm has (black with red pinstripe + gray along the bottom), there was the straight 2 tone, and etc. etc. etc.

Ideas?

My thought: I like the old solid Ford Blue + Chrome look. (stock chrome I mean, not like flashy pimp wheels).

My goal is to make it look new.

I say all one color or the standard two tone like you said. If you did white on the top and blue along the body line at the bottom (hopefully you know what I mean) then that'd look pretty nice!

Frankly, since its your 1st paint job, I wouldn't paint it black. You've gotta have some top notch body work under there!

I do like your blue / chrome idea...I'm not biased. I promise :D

Your truck is where I got the idea:icon_cheers:

Thanks man. I always appreciate a compliment. :icon_cheers:

I the color is Bright Regatta Blue, Paint Code 7N, "M5979". Duplicolor "DUP 8801569"

Another member and I had a conversation about this not too long ago since he was looking for the color we both had.

Painting and Questions

I am replacing the driver's side fender with mine.

It looks pretty good. I've seen that before (on his postings)

And honestly, I like the wheels. If all else fails a new flash of paint and they will look good! I've always liked those chrome rings too.

I was lookin for the blue like yours, cause the two-tone white looks kinda groggy and uggly, I wanted a nestalgic look and appeal, something that I could drive to an office job and have people respect it. (without having it covered in mud 30" lift and 80" rims lol)

Can't sandblast sheetmetal it warps too bad. Strip with 80 grit discs on a 6" random orbital sander, ($60) or so. Spray a single stage urethane paint. In your case get some rustoleum and rollers and paint it in yer front yard. Thin coats with sanding between coats. Labor intensive but dirt cheap.
