My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
The lady across the street from my friends house has a old falling apart barn in her backyard. We were asking her about it and she gave us permission to essentially everything in it, except for one corner where there was a deer blind.

So were looking through trash and old boxes, mostly mouse eaten romance novels, and I found this gem:

Well that was a cool/unexpected find.

And to add to it's rareness (take a look at the first picture, just above the alcohol content):

Wikipedia said:
In 2006, Crown Royal XR (Extra Rare) was introduced in the US by allocation and the Canadian market (initially, only in Ontario and Alberta). Available in Québec since January 2008. This limited-release special blend of Crown Royal is sold in numbered bottles, and is made from the last batch of whiskey distilled at the Waterloo distillery. After mothballing in 1992, the Waterloo distillery burned down in 1993, with only a small amount of whisky being left behind [11]. It received a 7¼ and 7¾ from Whisky Magazine critics

The last batch of whiskey from this distillery and the same size (750ml) sells for $140+

Don't know If I want to sit on it some more or drink it. It's not like it's still in the barrel, so it's not going to be aged an extra 35 years :bawling:

Use it for special occassions, like the Super Bowl, or rolling your trucks odometer to the next 100K mark.

Don't drink that...you will go blind..that is too old and it is has turned to varnish...buy a new one and get so drunk your parents will pay for a new place for you to live.........lol

I'm sure the varnish will still result in the desired affect.

You got something against varnish?

I'd hang onto it, personally. Break it out on a special day: wedding, birth of a child, or in the case of my brother and my cousin and I - to celebrate the life of my dad at his funeral, right in the church parking lot. We did it at his brother's funeral as well.

They'd have appreciated it.

I like the way you think! I'm the only one that really drinks in the family, think were do to share a couple more this summer. Only saw dad have two beers, one was at my wedding.
I'd sure save that for some special events or take the money and get some fresh stuff.

I'm ready when you are, Dave.

Your friends ever take you to Backyard Grill and Bar in Cherry Valley? Good food, very reasonably priced drinks. One of our favorite places to stop on the way home on Fridays for supper and a couple cold ones.

Exactly, they were probably partying out there 35 years ago during the bicentennial of america and someone got ripped on for having Canadian whiskey. Which in turn was stashed away and forgotten.

I think I'll drink it, eventually. Got to wait for a good occasion like suggested though, and especially with friends. Can't put a price on having a good time with friends.

Nice find. Age does make a difference even in the bottle, and it don't "go bad". I had a friend once who worked for a guy who did auctions of businesses and he found a bottle from the 70's....smooootthhh :)
