A Message From Jim Oaks
I think the name of this page says it all.
Changes happen every day. Some are good. Some aren't. Whether we like it not, we can't stop change. If we don't keep up with the changes we'll get left behind. One of the great influences on change is knowledge. Things are constantly changing and improving because of knowledge.
I'm wheeling a Ranger with a TTB front suspension and 33-inch tires. It's a great truck and will go anywhere as long as it can get ground clearance, but it just doesn't have the abilities to go all the places I'd like to go. I need more ground clearance which means bigger tires and axles.
I look at The Ranger Station much like my Ranger. It's a good thing but it's become dated and needs to grow with the trends and abilities of its users.
Over the next several months my focus is going to be on:
1) Updating all the sites technical pages which has already begun.
2) Continue my research on 4-link suspensions
3) Research full hydro and hydro assist steering
4) Promote the uses of our Video Gallery.
Notice that #4 on the list is the use of our Video Gallery. I believe that the future of technical information on the internet is going to be through video. The cost of video cameras and broadband (high speed internet) is so reasonable now that more people are connecting with faster internet connections and sharing videos on line. I have made a new section in our Video Gallery for Technical Videos. When you go to our Video Gallery and upload a video, you'll see a new category for Technical Videos. This isn't PowerblockTV. We're not looking for professional productions here. We want to see some videos as simple as showing the solid axle swap or any other modifications you have done and just talking about them. If you want to video an actual modification process go for it, but we'd be happy to view a video and overview of the work you've done when it's done. How many times have you seen a mod on line and wished you could see it from another angle?
One of the problems trying to keep this site up to date is gathering the information. I've been updating pages and finding that part numbers and availability changes, website links change and knowledge has increased causing new information to have to be sorted through.
I could research the info and display it here, but Ranger enthusiasts would rather read other Ranger enthusiasts submissions based on their experiences. Plus, we can get more done and gather more information with the more people we have contributing. I see people in our forums that have done some great modifications. The hard part is getting them to submit them. I've asked some people to submit information on some of the mods they've done. I'm hoping that sooner or later they'll deliver.
You came to this site either looking for information, to ask a question or have discussions with other Ranger enthusiasts. We need your support. If you've done modifications that aren't hosted here and you think someone else may have an interest in them, please submit them.
Thanks to those who have submitted information to The Ranger Station. If anyone else has info and photos to share, you can submit them at:
